When all I can feel is pain, when all I can hear is fear, when all I can feel is fatigue; how do I stay in presence?

I remind myself that at the core, I am not my thoughts and I am not my body… If I continue to go out to them for whether I am safe or well I will be on a constant yo-yo. When I’m not tired, when my body is feeling good, when there’s no judgment – it’s a good day. But when my body is in pain, tired, and I feel not good enough – then it’s a bad day. I will have no steadiness. I will always be on edge of what is to come. What kind of day is it going to be??

If I no longer look to my thoughts and the state of my body for how I am doing or if I am progressing, then I will not yo-yo. If instead I look within to presence, the thing that is always here, the thing that is always listening, that quiet, that spaciousness, the eternal love; then I will feel a steadiness. I can always count on it. So no matter what is going on around me, if I reference from presence, I will always be able to rest in the peace and love that is here.

Each day, remind yourself of what’s here. Of what you actually are at the core. Even if you can’t feel it. Keep letting your being know it exists.
